| 5.1 Introduction 简介 Payment plays an important role in foreign trade. It is often complicated. The mode of payment for each transaction is to be agreed upon between the two trading parties at the time of placing an order. The most often adopted mode of payment in our foreign trade is Letter of Credit. After a contract or confirmation is signed by buyers and sellers, the buyers should open a letter of credit, according to the payment clause in the contract usually one month before the time of shipment. 5.2 Samples 例文 Letter 1 Urging Establishment of L/C Urging Establishment of L/C--Delivery Date Is Approaching 交货日期临近—— 催开信用证 Dear Sirs, Our Sales Confirmation No. TEl51 Reference is made to the 1,000 cartons of Canned Asparagus under the subjected sales confirmation, we wish to draw your attention to the fact that the date of delivery is approaching, but up to the present we have not received the covering Letter of Credit. Please do your utmost to expedite its establishment, so that we may execute the order within the prescribed time. In order to avoid subsequent amendments, please see to it that the L/C stipulations are in exact accordance with the terms of the contract. We look forward to receiving your favorable response at an early date. On perusal, we find that transshipment and partial shipments are not allowed. As direct steamers to your port are few and far between, we have to hip via Hong Kong more often than not. As to partial shipment, it would be to our mutual benefit if we could ship immediately whatever s ready instead of waiting for the whole shipment to be completed. Therefore, we are asking you to amend your L/C to read “Part shipments and transshipment allowed.” We shall appreciate it if you will modify promptly the L/C as requested.
